I am looking for any summer programs to apply to that are for people interested in politics/ law! I feel that most of the programs I see are for STEM majors and would really appreciate if you could help me find some programs related to my major of interest!
Thank you!!
I’m attending Best Delegate Institute for Model United Nations, they have it for Debate too. It’s not too late to apply.
I’m going to the university of New England in Maine. They have a trial and advocacy program that’s two weeks long. It sounds great because not only do you have an experienced professor but you also get to go to a trial. Also, you are on the coast and this part of Maine is really beautiful and I didn’t want to feel like I was going to be stuck in the classroom all summer! I spoke to the coordinator and they have extended the deadline to May 8, 2015. The woman said anyone interested should CALL first because it’s so close to the deadline.
Try www.mysummeradvisor.com. Look under “University-based Programs” tab. You can search for PreLaw, International Relations (under liberal arts) or debate institutes. There are lots of debate programs. There are several international relations/law programs at colleges in the DC area. Also, look under “Specialty Camps” There are programs through the National Youth Leadership Forum, Education Unlimited, etc.
Another place to look is through the summer programs of any major university. For example, Brown University offers 300 programs and there a several in law - like “Global Justice”, “Privacy in the Digital Age”. With big schools, you have to flip through their summer pre-college offerings. Some schools even allow high school students to take regular undergraduate courses during the summer and you get the college credit.
University of Toledo has a great program and low cost only 125 dollars for room, board and program and sounds like a model un type of experience http://www.utoledo.edu/honors/youthnations/
another low cost option is IUP honors summer program that has courses including psychology, journalism and one with political bent. only 350 for 2 wk to live on college campus. deadline was may 1rst but call as i heard they didnt fill and extending deadline.
found another one on the CC thread. i def. have a focus on low cost. this one looks great at UNiv. of Miss. and the cost for 4 wks if you submit SAT/ACT over 30 ACT equivalent cost can come down to 500-1000 for a 4 wk res. program that gives credit. you can choose your courses and one is LEGAL STUDIES
