Summer programs/internships

Do you guys recommend just volunteering at a library or something during the summer or going to some summer programs? If you think summer programs are the way to go, can you please list any good ones? I prefer free ones :)

Well, right now it's too late to apply/sign up for most programs. Volunteering is good. Try finding a job too if you want.

If you have connections, try getting a research position.

...or you can just start emailing profs.

^Best thread on research.

I haven't really been able to find any good summer programs, the majority are BS including NSLC which I got in the mail. I'm def. gonna try to volunteer at the library/YMCA or something like that.

For summer programs, I'm only interested in tech stuff pertaining to computers, robotics, etc.

Also, what exactly is an internship and is it possible to get one as a sophomore?
