Summer Programs w/Generous Financial Aid?

I'm already planning for next summer, and I've just gotten accepted to a prep school in my area ($20,000 in financial aid for year, parents still have to pay $800 per month). So because of my new prep school (came from public), my mom said I can't spend thousands for summer programs anymore. Does anybody know of any summer programs that have generous financial aid?

I am looking into:

Cornell University Summer

Great Books Summer Program

Cambridge College Programme

Does anybody have an experience with these programs? Do they give enough aid so one only has to pay $2000 or less?

Just to let you know, my family isn't poor enough to definitely receive full aid, and you could probably tell by now that we're not rich either. You could call my family the middle of the middle class.

Oh and I’m really only interested in humanities based summer programs, if it helps anybody.

From what I’ve heard, Brown Pre-College and Harvard SSP have fairly generous financial aid. Dunno much about their strength in humanities, though, as I’m more of a science kid.

It really depends which summer program you apply to. A lot of the summer programs ask you to send in financial aid forms REALLY early, usually within feb, march, april or even may if you’re lucky enough. I suggest looking at the summer programs and look under financial aid and see what they can help you with. Some pay in full (depends on your situation though) and some make you pay a couple hundred OR ask them if you can make monthly payments (very rare but I’ve done it :)…NOT everyone lets you do this…do a lot of research!)

btw I’m pretty sure cornell offers some…I’ve looked on their site before=)
good luck!xx

At Ole Miss, during the summer you can take college courses with college students and gifted high school students for college credit. If you have the GPA and SAT or ACT scores you can attend virtually free of charge: [Summer College For High School Students - The University of Mississippi](About | Summer College | Ole Miss)
My 16 yo had many course choices. First term he took computer science 1 and philosophy 1 (logic). Second term he is taking computer science 2 and macroeconomics. He had a full scholarship. He says he likes his professors; he is being challenged and he is having a great time. You can attend for either the first or second summer term or you can stay for both.

Great ideas! Apollo, did your son attend two summer terms on full scholarship (for both)?
Also, I was confused by the information on the website- it says that the student applying must be “in good academic and conduct standing in the tenth or eleventh grade (Class of 2012 or 2013)”. That would make it for those already going to college this year or rising seniors. So the student applying must be a rising junior or current senior? That’s odd- most summer camps are for rising juniors and rising seniors (making it so that they apply as sophomores and juniors).
