Summer Programs

First off, I am not a math person. I am a social science person. Math scares me. I am looking for summer programs for next summer, when I will be a rising junior. I don't do much during the summer and I know that top colleges won't like that. Can anyone recommend a non-math program that I may be able to get into, that is very cheap (I can't get a job and my family makes less than $20,000 a year), yet prestigious? My freshman grades were horrible - I just didn't care about college until this summer.

Sorry if this is in the wrong area, it seemed like the best option.

a lot of colleges allow students to take summer courses, like community colleges (i cant really say for your area, but there are a lot in my area). try to see if there are any such colleges in your area.

you should ask your guidance counselor about this when you get back to school and be sure to tell him/her about your financial circumstances. it’s a little early to be thinking about summer programs for next summer when this summer isn’t over yet. but going to your gc when school starts should give you a jump start on finding a good way to spend your summer. also, try to significantly increase your average. that may be a factor for whether or not a program will accept you.
