I think it is a great thing if you are interested in the topic. Last years on death row was very interesting. There were lectures and discussions throughout the year on that topic.</p>
<p>However, no one takes roll, no tests....
I think a good part of the academic process is to learn and discuss without being forced to. Unfortunately freshman are so sick and tired of summer reading and being told what to do this is the first flex of that independence muscle. IMHO, high schools ruin reading for most kids. Even kids who love to read prior to h.s. hate it at the end because they have no choice as to what they read.</p>

<p>I read it last year because I thought it was required. Then I learned that NOTHING was required in college. Literally. except the law. you do what you want and your grades/performance reflects that. But yeah i thought death of innocents was a really good book. kinda dragged on later but the stories were very powerful and controversial. Definitely recommended.</p>
<p>having already read the book, I will say that it was interesting. He started repeating himself towards the end, but overall I found it enjoyable. I'd say go for it if you've got the time...its not difficult or anything--pretty quick read actually</p>

I'll probably read the book later on during the summer. It's just that for now, I'm pretty much burned out, from finals.</p>
