Does anyone know of any on-going scholarships for incoming college freshmen? I know I am limiting myself, but I'm looking preferably for local scholarships (NYC, tri-state area) rather than national ones. Graduated with a 4.0 w, several ECs, 600+ service hours. I also have a portfolio, but really I'll look into anything. Is there anything out there or is it too late?

Thanks in advance!

Ok…I’ll bite. Is this for THIS summer (since you say you graduated from HS)? If so, isn’t it a little late?

@thumper1 Yes. I know it is late but just looking to do some last minute applications. I really couldn’t seem to find any, but I maybe looking in the wrong spots. I already won a handful of scholarships, just looking for some others to keep myself occupied.

Your time may be better spent putting more hours in at a summer job than applying for scholarships if you have that option.

@Madison85 I’ve had a job for almost a year now, and yes, time is really well spent preparing for my career and learning the value of a dollar.

Most if not all scholarships would have deadline in Spring or earlier. There are may be a few that has deadline in July, but you may or may not be eligible to it. You should search on those fastweb or similar sites.

@billcsho Thank you, I will look into it!

Check with your college. My son is applying for a scholarship to pay for books that is given over the summer by the university’s parent association.

@jeannemar Best of luck to your son! Unfortunately, my school does not have any scholarships for incoming freshmen, but I’ll definitely take your advice as I further my education there!
