SO far I have a 3.47 GPA with the completion of my first semester of college. Some facts, I go to the University of Scranton, I'm a New York resident, I'm an Eagle Scout, my father is a firefighter and hes in the air force reserves, and I'm a first generation college student. Are there any scholarships I could apply for and have a good shot at getting. I applied to a bunch of scholarships in the past, The Italian American Scholarship, the NSHSS scholarship and so on. I didn't get anything probably because my ACT score was on the low side and my GPA in high school was just okay. SO are there any scholarships that you guys could list for me to checkout? I'm also white and Catholic as a side note. Thank you! Oh I'm a bio/pre med major.

Most scholarships when you are in college come from the school itself. You need to contact your FA office and your advisor to see what they can recommend.

bump…

Erin’s Dad is right. Once you’re a college student, scholarships mostly come from your own school or the department of your major.

What’s your situation? Are you having difficulties paying for UScranton? Did they give you any financial aid as a freshman?

Can you work over the summer to earn some money?

Do you currently have a work-study job?

No. They gave me nothing. My father can afford it he just doesn’t want to pay all that money because I could go to a state school for much less. I do have a summer job but it only pays 8$ an hour. My friend gave me a website called z i n c h, anyone ever herd of it? Apparently its a scholarship search engine but it also gives out scholarships from them as well

I think you’re going to wasting a lot of time doing those scholarship apps.

Have you looked at what your dept major offers?

Can you get a part-time job during the school year?
