Summer School Transcript

I'm taking a Harvard Summer School writing class... My mom signed me up because my writing isn't as strong as my science/math stuff... Do I have to send my summer school transcript to college because I doubt my grade will be excellent in that class

you're going to harvard university for summer school? may I ask why?

^why not?

please answer the original post if you plan on replying to this thread

Even if it is community college summer school, if the grade isn't good-no

(I heard the harvard summer school is a joke, but, alas, those are words from the grapevine)

I think you only have to send it if you tell your high school counselor what you got, and he or she includes it in your high school transcript.

So sending the summer school transcript is optional?

I think you will be obligated to send it. Don't college apps specifically ask you to list and report on any other schools you've attended?

^^so it would have been better if I had not signed up for the course if I'm going to a B in it? (all my high school grades are A)

In my experience with Johns Hopkins's CTY program, the teachers will probably give you an A unless you really **** them off. It's a much more relaxed setting for learning than a real school. But, in truth, it probably means very little as a result of this laxness.

I would not think that getting a B in a class at Harvard as a highschooler is a negative in any way. Adcoms would like that you are doing something productive and academic with your summer. Try not to get a C, though, if you can. :-)

why go to harvard extension school or w/e it's called?

sounds like you're trying to impress someone

adcoms don't really care honestly, as a long as you at least do like one productive thing/year

nevertheless, if he gets a B or higher, it will look good. are they college writing credits?

i thought that shows you have money..
i dont think theres much use..

I'm not taking the class for credit, I'm just taking it to improve my writing... (I didn't want to take it, my mom did...)

I took Latin at Stanford Summer College last year. It was a real college class, like I was in the room with grad and undergrad students. I think Harvard Summer College is different, though; I don't think they mix the summer college kids with the college students. However, from what I've heard, it's supposed to still be a college course (as in, same rigor and difficulty). If it's really like that, then getting a B wouldn't be a bad thing, but I might not send it if you don't think it reflects your best work. Strive for an A; if you do get an A, that would look really good. I ended up with an A+ in Latin at S.S.C.- :) I'm sending that one. If it had been a B, I probably wouldn't have because langauges are one of my strong points and a B wouldn't do much to show that.

actaully, anyone can take a class there... High school, middle age, old ppl... There are only lik 2 or 3 high schoolers in a class of 13 or something

oh, ok. i looked into it last year. i had to apply and stuff to get in (i did get in, but i picked stanford instead). i don't think it was selective at all, though.

please don't question my motives for attenting this program, because it has nothing to do with the thread. Secondly, please don't assume anything, as your assumptions are quite rude and untrue.

When we try to better ourselves, it is for the good. When others try to better themselves, it is to impress?
