As a premed student at UC Berkeley, what class(es) should I take at UC Berkeley over the summer?

Would taking statistics look bad if i take it over the summer at my "home" institution?

an A is an A. do what you need to do to get it

I heard that med schools look down upon taking premed classes over the summer. Would stats be considered as one?

stats is not a premed class.

You need 1 year of college math. I guess stats could be part of the 1 year. But if you have taken 2 semesters of calculus at berkeley then stats would not be considered premed

It would still be factored into you BCPM gpa, meaning it's effectively a premed class regardless of whether you have to semesters of calc or not. Hence, it still looks bad to take it over the summer becuase it may still look like you're trying to pad your gpa. That said, I don't think only taking one premed class over the summer will hurt you significantly, assuming you do well in it. Any non-premed classes are fine to take over the summer, though as BDM often says (and I agree), the problem with summer classes in general is that they distract you from important things you should be doing over the summer instead, like research, volunteering, etc.
