So I know it's a little early to be thinking about summer school, but I have a few questions. I am a freshman at SC.

Do you guys think it is a bad idea to take MATH 125 (Calc I) at a CC this summer or would I still be okay? I'm a bio major, so I don't have any other math requirements.

Also, for the science classes, if SC has an articulation agreement with a CC, does that mean that it is just for the lecture portion or for both the lecture and the lab (ie. would I have to take the lab at SC if i took the class at a CC?)

I think it’s a great idea to take your math class at a CC especially if its your only math requirement. It’s a lot easier, and in most cases, easier to understand. The math department here at USC isn’t exactly the greatest.

If there’s an articulation agreement (Usually the case with any local CC’s) then both lecture and discussion for the class should transfer over without any problems.

I agree that it’s best to get pre-approved by your advisor before you commit to summer school.

Our D got USC to agree to accept her German courses this past summer, so she was given credit for both 6-week German courses she took & was placed in 3rd semester German where she is completing her language requirement this term! If you don’t get pre-approval, you may not get the credit you expect toward requirements and graduation.

Just wondering how many units can someone take over the summer?
I plan on taking GE6 and WRIT140 together, can I take both together. And what session will it be in? the whole summer or the smaller one?

Last year’s schedule will be able to answer your question on what session each class is in…I think you can take up to 16 units but I don’t know anyone who has taken over 12 unites.

Oh really, thats good. I thought max was 4 units. I guess i can get writ 140 out of the way now. Thanks, but how do you know what dates that classes are from? like first session or second or the long one?

I was looking at the old schedule, and it depends.

For example: [GEOG | USC Schedule of Classes](<a href=“302 Found”>302 Found)
Click on the class, then look at Info (on the far right)
GEOG 257g was scheduled from May 20-Jun 30
and the WRIT 140 class was schedule from May 20 to Jun 7

I don’t think there’s a standard for all classes…depends on the professor, course, and the instructional time required.
