Do you know how much financial aid UCR would typically give to a student for summer school? My EFC is 0 if that helps... and is housing included in their calculations?

I want to take multiple sessions, but I'm pretty sure UCR will only give financial aid for like one or two sessions...?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

HAH! welldone to the marketing team at the uvt!

To get summer finaid, you need to take at least 12 units, regardless of what session you take it in. session 1 and 2 are the two halves of the summer, the other sessions are weeks in-between. A bit confusing, but dig around the summer website and it will help you understand. If you get fin aid during the regular school year, then you’ll get it for the summer! Now it is said that the amount that you get for summer is subtracted from your yearly finaid amount. I am going to check up on that claim tomorrow at the office.
As for housing, I do not believe summer finaid accounts for that. In my case, even with finaid I had to pay out of my pocket when I took summer classes, plus subleased from a girl in Sterling who hooked it up for $1200 for the whole summer. (and yes, I’m a dude, never doing that again!) My EFC is not zero however.

What about taking summer sessions not at UCR, but at a local community college. How does that work?

You’ll have to check with your academic advisor that the classes at your community college are equivalent to the the classes here at UCR.

So, I called in and asked the finaid office about summer stuff. They said we do get financial aid for housing.
