hello guys. i plan to apply to stanford, and this summer i took summer classes at uci. unfortunately, i messed up and got bad grades this summer (3.2). i was wondering whether or not i should report the classes that i took this summer. thanks.

I'm not from CA. I assume that uci is something not connected with your high school transcript in any way.

It shows initiative that you took extra classes. Adcoms care about difficulty of curriculum more than anything else. On the other hand, if you don't think it is going to impress Stanford, I wouldn't make the information available.

i would send it..depends...which class did u take?

IF its like art then dont send it..depends on your major too...

another reason i do not want to make it available to the school is because it will start off my college gpa with bad grades. also, when i apply to berkeley/la it will be calculated into my uc gpa if i let it show (which will bring it down). i dont think the classes i took were that hard. econ20a (a-) and gender and popular culture (a women's studies class) (b-).

ummm it wont effect your college gpa at all...
it will only effect your highschool gpa if you send the scores
iono i would send it anyway because summer college courses show that you were busy during the summer...
when school starts ask your counselor about wut she/he would recommend to do

Well, it shows that you didn't waste your summer and that you did something productive, and you at least tried. A 3.2 isn't the end of the world.

Summer school... Isn't that an oxymoron?

No, it's the apocalypse.

i definitely agree that it isn't the end of the world. i just want to know whether or not it would be advantageous to submit it.

I tend to agree with GoldShadow; it shows you tried and did something. I'd submit them. The way I understand things, it won't affect your college GPA anyway unless you transfer those credits (otherwise it won't show up on your new college's transcript, so the two don't affect each other).

Besides, this is the end of the world (warning: language).

Ze end of ze world*

You guys are so horrible... You're probably tramatizing the poor child. jeez. haha.

Anyways as far as summer school if you applied for credits, I believe it'll show up on your transcript. Ask your guidance counselor. But I suggest you rethink Stanford.

3.2 isn't that bad.

not really "BAD", its...alright
