Summer Science Program 2017

@florencewelch666 @OnAHyperbola has said that they were accepted to the CU Boulder campus program!

Didn’t see that before posting. Anyone else though? And what’s the stat of alternate list? Isn’t it basically rejection in polite words? :3

And @OnAHyperbola congratulations for getting in CU Boulder! When are you confirming your enrollment?

@florencewelch666 My friend actually went to NM Tech off the wait list - there are probably a few every year that turn ssp down for rsi

@xlhx33 I am on the alternate list as well. I don’t know if I should be happy or bummed :3
I hope something like your friend’s case happens and I get to go.

Does anyone want to share their stats

@Cri007 Mine aren’t phenomenal or anything, but I can DM them to you if you want. I’m especially lacking in my EC’s because I’ve always lived in places where it’s really hard to find good STEM opportunities…but I hope they felt my passion and understood my interest in astrophysics in my essays, lol.

I didn’t mention a lot of astrophysics in my essays. Hopefully I showed my passion through other ways, since I’ve really had so little experience to astrophysics. Also praying that my teacher recommendations are good. Incredibly nervous since if I don’t get into this or YSPA I don’t have any backups.

When do results come out? April 10-ish?

@stopthistrain Yep they said mid April ish.
And my stats were not that science oriented, as I’ve got not much going on here. I hope my essays were able to do the work.

@triacontahedron Did you get your decisions?

@florencewelch666 No, not yet unfortunately. I’m a US applicant…

@florencewelch666 My stats are not stellar either, but then again my essays weren’t either, but we can also hope right :frowning:

@Cri007 We can, but still it’s excruciating to face rejection. I finally get the hang of the college app dilemma though.

@florencewelch666 Agreed… I applied last year as a sophomore and got rejected xD

@Cri007 Hey you might have a chance this year then. Keep rooting for yourself

@Cri007 Same, also applied last year…I pretty much knew I wasn’t going to get in, but it still hurt…
This year chances are much higher though, so pretty hopeful?

@Sinphirho2 Let’s pray, but I don’t want to get my hopes and just get rejected again xD

What’s the odd of international students being selected from the alternate list though? I’m just so obsessed with SSP that I keep bugging everyone with this question :3

Has anyone else had trouble with teachers submitting recommendations? I know my teacher submitted it twice now but I emailed and they say they don’t have it.

@florencewelch666 Depends on the number of people who applied to RSI/SSP/YSPA and got into at least 2 of them, and then the number of people who choose SSP over the others (which, if they got into RSI, RSI>SSP, but idk)
