Summer Science Program (SSP) 2010

I REALLY, REALLY doubt it was the teacher rec that either made or broke someone. They mostly care about your passion and how you convey your personality through your essays.

Recommendations are huge. My math teacher is known for hating everyone. She insulted me by not giving me my letter until the 15th. I gave the rec form in January.

Now that I’m thinking of it, I don’t think my teachers wrote too awesome of recs for me. I only had an A- in Calc BC, and when I got 98% in Bio AP, my teacher was like “meh” for my rec.

Also, how many people got deferred? I want to know if my chances are good for moving from the “maybe” to “yes” stack.

Accepted, not attending.
Good luck to those waitlisted/deferred! :)

What are the people who were accepted and are not attending doing instead? (Jersey13? elevatorshoes?)

Join the other SSPers and alumni on Facebook.

Accepted, not attending.
signed for HSHSP…

Wow, all these responses.

I still haven’t gotten a letter/email yet. Bad news? :[
scratch that. checked my spam. rejected. >_<

Holy crap. I got in.

I have no idea how, but it happened. I mean, I wanted desperately to get in but I never dreamed it would happen. I mean literally, my dreams were composed of sever odd (unrelated events) and a single rejection letter from MIT (only a Junior, haven’t given them the opportunity to reject me just yet) which came in the form of a telegram… and, well, I’m rambling. But yeah this came as a surprise.

Have no intention of posting my stats because they’re far from good which does add to my confusion as to how I made the cut.

In addition both TASP (though I did attend TASS last year) and MITES flat-out rejected me so it seems the programs so different things in me or this is just foreshadowing college admissions.

Have the people who were deferred received any further news?

Another summer program. I’m a more economics/IR oriented student so SSP wasn’t my top choice.

Good luck to those CCers waitlisted, hope you get my spot :)

Another summer program.

So far no update for deferrees

I’ve been deferred… keeping my finger’s crossed!

But worse comes to worse, I have back-up plans. lol

Anyone got financial aid package yet? So nervous about it.

^i haven’t got mine back yet. when did you send yours in? i just sent mine in on tuesday so hopefully i hear back within the next week. i want to know asap if i can go or not!

I sent mine way before March 15. I hope they are going to send FA package in order, not at the same time.

Yay, got accpeted to NM campus, here are my stats:
ACT-30 (31 superscored), UW GPA-3.86, will finish 9 AP’s by the end of this year and taking multivarible calc. Doing physics research with a past Stanford physics lecturer.
Got 2nd and 3rd in nationals in math(in Israel) in 7th and 8th grade,respectively.

Had 2 great recs. In essays talked about music playing, science interest, and culture shock when I came to america.

Cant wait to meet everyone!

Does being “deferred” mean I’m just being waitlisted?

Yes, Quantum Girl
