Summer Science Program (SSP) 2014

@aboveandbeyond‌ We can struggle together… I have no idea how to balance a half reaction… sigh And I have AP Calc Problems due tomorrow. This forum has ruined me. (in the best possible way.)

@Nobody426 haha, yes :slight_smile: I’m doing my calc problems for tomorrow as well. Half reactions are annoying, just remember to follow the steps carefully.

@Nobody426‌ Are you talking about Chem? Are you in AP Chem? I might be able to help, my class just finished electrochem so we are done with all of the content for this year.

@AllenRen‌ same here lol…

@william108108‌ you are in a boarding school? which one, and would you mind i add your fb

How could they post it if no one actually working at late night, that just unreasonable …

@Raaaam‌ They’ve done it before

Whether it comes out or not, there’s no way I’m getting to sleep if I’m thinking about the decision.

They’re probably already uploaded, just waiting for a time to actually send out. Also, if you send out the emails/post the results on the website late at night when most of us are SUPPOSED to be sleeping (#nosleepuntil3AMoverhere) it reduces traffic to the SSP website and prevents a possible crash that would prevent anyone from accessing their results.

@Southpaw45‌ Yeah, I told my mom I was only staying up until midnight, then quickly added ‘west coast time’ #nosleepuntil3AM

:( why did they have to tell us to check again “soon”

I believe the admissions office is actually in North Carolina, so it may be dictated by EDT instead. At least, North Carolina is where we sent all of our applications.

@aboveandbeyond‌ Ha! I don’t even kid around with my mom anymore. She goes to be really early and the next day when she asks me when I went to bed, if the answers 3 AM, I’m telling her 3:15 :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m really hoping that we get them tonight or tomorrow. If it’s tonight or tomorrow, whatever I can deal. But I’ll be spending all of Friday with my SciOly team (most of it on a bus) and I really don’t want to be grumpy cat for the whole trip to state if I don’t get in.

Also, it might totally throw my events to know whether I was admitted. One of my teammates found out that he was rejected to UChicago the day before our regional and he was completely off of his game the next day.

@Southpaw45‌ I hope it’s soon. I’ve been putting off writing some essays for a few back up options for the summer. Last year, when I applied as a sophomore, I actually turned down a chance to do a program in china to wait on the decision from SSP. And good luck with your SciOly. :)

its still not out yet…

Well it’s midnight here and nothing yet. :(

I…hate…everything…

It is definitely North Carolina time. I have been emailing Amy and Dr. Bowdon a lot after my acceptance. The replies usually arrive between 10 AM to 11 AM EDT. It is safe to assume that the decisions won’t come out tonight. Sleep well.

The suspense is going to kill me. I think I’ll do more research into spherical trigonometry since so many of the comments on the site mentioned it.

Haha. Link me to the website(s) if you find something good on the interwebz.
