I'm still recovering from the wisdom teeth ordeal and trying to eat... though the thought of food still makes me sick.

And packing! I'm trying to decide which flute music I should bring! I'm still looking for a piano part that I know I had that goes with my amazingly awesome Italian song (Il Pastore Svizzero) because it would sound pretty cool to play with a piano, because at the competition that I won with it, I had to do it as a solo, without a piano, because the piano person that was going to play it with me couldn't play it... it was still fun though.

Good luck with those rabies shots...

And I think I'm going on my last minute "OMG I'm going to New Mexico in less than a week, I need summer clothes and small things of laundry detergent and quarters etc etc etc" shopping trip tomorow.

36 students is a pretty small number

we should be able to break the ice in no time

CTY was 3 weeks and i still didnt know who everyone was

Monumental Decision:

I've decided not to bring my laptop. While it's a mega-multimedia machine containing blockbuster hits such as "Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle" and "Scary Movie 3", the only movie on it that's really worth watching as a group is "Spirited Away", which I'm sure someone else already covered.

So in terms of electronics I've got:

TI-89 Titanium
Ipod Mini (pending)

Cellphones are probably a distraction.

Oh yeah...I might also get "An Introduction to Mechanics" by Kleppner and Kolenkow...a really sweet Physics textbook. Anyone else got nice science books they're bringing?

electronics:
TI 83 plus
digital camera and memory card
mp3 player (Zen Micro)
cell phone (because it ends up being slightly cheaper than a calling card... and it has all my phone numbers stored in it)

and my calculator to calculator cord, and my camera to computer cord, and my mp3 player to computer cord, and my cell phone charger.

textbooks:
The Cosmic Perspective by Bennett, Donahue, schneider and Voit (because its a really pretty book, and its interesting to read and very informative)

How Things Work: The Physics of Everyday Life by Louis Bloomfield (because its just a really interesting book)

Update: yeeey! today i got a huge trunk! now i have something to put my laundry bag in! yeeey!! :)

electronics:
ti-89 titanium (my treasure lol)
digital watch (hopefully)
broken flashlight (is it considered to be an "electronics" part?)

eeerm....my parents are worried if there are a lot of snakes?
crocodiles?
tigers?
aliens?
ants?
cucarachas? (i dont know how you spell them in English)
mosquitos?

ooook.....is it a good idea to bring empty CD's?
aaaaaand the last thing: when is your plane scheduled to arrive at Albuq. I.A.? (and what time do you have to take off from your home-city?)

and, as a reminder: we still have to do 4 more pages (that's about....50 posts?) ;)
and omg lol, it's less than a week!!!!

easy to do if you just post nonsense

riddle:

my mother's house has no door. what am i?

poignantpianist1...

if your response was

an Egg

you are correct

if your response was

poignantpianist1

you are

sigh Pianist...lol :D

Electronics-
-Cell phone - all my numbers are stored here along with pictures, videos, texts :) plus, I refuse to get a calling card.
-My Mini Ipod - the screen was cracked but I could still read the menu. well, as of today, it's officially broke -_-; reeeaaaally pi*sed offa bout that....sigh* oh well, i won it at a raffle anyways.
-Ti-83
-Digital Camera - Pictures :)
-Some CDs, I suppose
-Other Random stuff I'll bring, just because there may be a .0002% that I might need it smiles sheepishly

Textbooks
-Calculus Textbook, even though I don't think I'll need it ;D
-Physics Textbook, maybe borrow from the University Library that's, oh, 2 minutes away from my house^^
-Astrom Textbook...same.

Requests lol for any textbooks?
I'm sure I can find them, teehee at the library ;D

Why do we need to make 4 more pages O_O? Do we get a prize or something?
And how much money do you think we'll need to bring? I'm thinking about $50 will be more than enough (since I'm not buying any souvenirs in Socorro, its only 2.5 hours away from where i live and not significant enough for my tastes) for the laundry (lots of clothes so I don't have to do laundry...yay!) & movies & snacks. I will cringe if we need to bring more.

I thought henhouses did have doors.... if you're refering to a chicken egg. And as for any animal... sometimes the sky has doors (anyone ever seen The Truman Show???)

There are snakes and scorpions and roaches out in New Mexico... and lots of critters like that. I don't think there will be very many crocodiles or tigers, though there may be a rather lot of aliens. Hard to tell.

Yeah I'll probably bring some empty cd's... never know when those'll come in handy.

I land at ABQ airport at 12 something I think. And I take off at 6 something from Washington/Dulles, and I spend some time at Ft. Worth/Dallas, and the time zone change accounts for whatever time is left over.

mother's OWN house, a hen house is not the mother's own house!!

duhhh

jk

the sky has doors if you're on a trip

there is a deadly african bee in New Mexico as my health teacher warns me

a deadly african bee? Oo
in new mexico? oO
i hope we don't get stung O_O

i'll be leaving CA around 7:30.. so i'll get to ABQ by around 11.
i seriously cannot wait... less than a week guys!!!
i'm so excited =D

i can't think of much to bring... so far, this is my list...
TI-89 Titanium (which I just bought today! i don't even know how to use it yet lol)
digital camera
cell phone
tennis racket =D

i was thinking about bringing a college physics textbook that i borrowed from my teacher last summer (that i haven't returned yet lol)... but since i'm pretty sure she'd want it back in perfect condition, i don't think bringing it to SSP would be a good idea. i don't trust myself to take good care of it. =(

When you guys are gone, this thread will officially die. =p

i must disagree :p
we still can wrtie from there lol (though i dont see any use of that, but eh)
even if dies, it can be ressurected (spelling?) when all the ppl come back from NM, and trust me, with 36 ppl around this thread will live on and on 4eva!!! hehe (until it eventually dies, hehe)
but still...:)

no i think we will all use this thread when we come back from SSP to just talk to one another and just keep in touch publicly

also, next year's SSPers may want to peruse and use this thread, or prospective students may want to ask questions

the music never dies

That, or AIM works too...

i think that the creation of ssp 'student to student handbook' would be a good idea
i dont know about you guys (and girls), but i still have a lot of questions about SSP, llike what to bring and how much
i haven't seen how do the dorms look like, how does the campus look, and the worst part, i dont have anyone to ask sob

Word!

We need to do serious research and find out from those people who went to SSP LAST year. sighs

lol
well, it's kinda too late for that

HOWEVER,

providing such an info for the "next generation" should be a good stuff
