and pham, why do you always have to contradict me? please dont bring your superiority complex to socorro, thanks. i OBVIOUSLY understand we can keep in touch with AIM but thats only 1 on 1 conversations, here we can post general questions.

you're too extreme, Matt: Pham does NOT always contradict you.
for the most part, the ppl who usually contradict are you and me ;)

besides, there is a difference between a serious post, and a joke post. Because for the most part, these are NOT serious posts (with minor exceptions), one shouldn't take everything that is written here too close to one's heart. And surely it shouldn't go as far as to tell people not to bring "their superiority complex":
First of all, nobody is perfect, and
Second of all, it's a democracy: one can bring whatever he/she wants to (unless it is clearly specified in the Student SSP handbook NOT to bring it :) ;) )

so yeah, blame everyting on the inability of the Internet to transmit emotions and/or feelings :)

Peace! :)

EDIT: thus, if you dont like this post, blame it on my lack of humor, which i surely have :)

Dear Students and Parents of SSP 2006 / Socorro,

My name is Leslie Clark and I am the Summer Science Program Site Director in
Socorro, New Mexico. We have only a few days until students arrive and I
hope you are as excited as I am! It is going to be a wonderful experience
meeting great new friends and being at one of the most beautiful campuses in
New Mexico.

As Site Director, I will be the first line of contact if you have
questions. I regularly check my e-mail and should have my cell phone
(505-838-3096) on at all times.

You should have reviewed the SSP Student Handbook and know what all you need
to bring, but I also want to give you a little information about the area.
It will be really hot, 95º F will be a daily occurrence and by July it will
be in the 100s. The air is very dry and the sun is brutal at this
elevation (4,600 ft.). Anyone with a light complexion needs to wear
sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) every time they go outside. Besides sunburn,
dehydration is the number one culprit in ruining a great trip, and it can
really sneak up on you. I will encourage all students to carry a water
bottle with them and drink water frequently.

If parents or students have any questions, feel free to contact me anytime.
I will reply promptly.

that was by far the most stupid and idiotic post thus far, ahra.

the point of posting such an email is for those who may not have received it due to some technical error which happens often to me, and for those who arent going to SSP socorro

do you seriously think i do not know that:

"Matt, we're all attending SSP here.
And thus, we've all recieved the emails..."

OF COURSE I DO

it was just a courtesy

but you cynical people of america just dont get it

This is, in fact, a public forum if I'm not sadly mistaken, and I can post what I feel and I'm perfectly fine with deserved critisism, but yours isn't.

I am sorry if I have degraded your self-worth or insulted you or your point in any way. And I'm also sorry that you can't take any piece of humor. Did you not notice the playful "lol" and the ":P" after my sentences....?

Plus,

You didn't have to use invective and condescending language to make your argument. Once you start using patronising language, your point becomes void and makes people upset (me).

I think you should use nicer language, especially on the internet (and learn to not take things so seriously), for the simple:
"Ahra, I was just being nice :) It was simple courtesy."

Would've done your point more justice than:
"that was by far the most stupid and idiotic post thus far, ahra....and stupid"

And if you were just "kidding," well, your post OBVIOUSLY didn't make THAT clear enough. :) But no hard feelings....I still like you tremendously! ^^
