Summer Science Program SSP Introduction Thread

:)

ahra, i have a question for you: since you are familiar with NM climate, what will be the best way to stay hydrated?
(note: i can't afford buying Catorade every now and then, and i cannot drink plain water (it makes me sick and more thirsty :) )
ty,
:)

Stay AWAY from Mineral Water...it quenches your thirst but then makes you thirsty like 10 minutes later.

Haha...Ahra must be smoking hot right now. New Mexico's going to fry us all...especially people from really different climate areas (people like Matt).

But not me. Because I'm from the South. I CAN TAKE THE HEAT.

...

Don't do Gatorade. It'll make your lips sticky...which only makes you thirsty. The heat won't be that bad...it's all in your mind Dan. Plus, New Mexico is dry...so you probably won't be sweating all that much (unlike in Georgia...)

Regular water doesn't help that much either lol...

Try thinking of Matt's hometown...and the sweet sweet sensation on your skin when snow falls when you're feeling hot.

Oh wait...bad choice. Angry/pessimistic sophomore land :(.

Try the NYC Blizzard scene...

what about a Russian winter? ;)
now thaaaat would be nice to have there, hehe
jk :)

no, seriously :) i sooo cannot stand the heat that it's not even funny lol
and following from your advice, i shouldn't drink at all :p

but thanks for support :)

Haha...I can definitely tell. I wonder how the Romanians will react when they land in New Mexico. (I'm assuming Romania has cold winters no?)

But yes, Russians would have a hard time adjusting to New Mexico climate.

You should drink...Matt's tears. Jkjkjkjkjkjkjk. Lol. Hahahaha.

Don't worry Dan, you've got the moral support of my plush rainbow creature thingy! With that, COLD NON-MINERAL WATER, and ice, you'll be an intellectual force to be reckoned with.

Oh yeah...and ice can treat burns too cough cough cough.

EDIT: This was a really tight World Cup Day. South Korea rallies from a 1-0 deficit to win 2-1 (WOOOO!!!). Also, Brazil wins 1-0 against Croatia in a very hard fought game. Props to the way Croatia played!

Hey Ahra, I can be an honorary Korean right?

if i room with pham

im leaving SSP ASAP

Hm. Staying hydrated in New Mexico...

Well, I don't much go outside haha preferring to read at home or something like that;; so i dont much know. Plus, I'm a swimmer and I just drink water :P i also don't have money to buy gatorade (maybe they'll give it to us for free?) I sent an email to the lady about TVs smiles sheepishly and stuff, but I have yet to hear a reply. sigh I still have to go SSP shopping.....

Jeremy, of course you can! Honorary korean for a day, word. But the korean team SUCKED. They weren't passing or being aggressive at all. Plus, France & Switzerland TIED their game (its an evil plot, I know it!) so now, we have to win/tie all our games (ones against FranceT_T and Switzerland) to move on...ARGG.

And BRAZIL should've scored like, 10 goals. -_-; disappointed.

Hm... I've had more gatorade than I ever wanted in the last week of recovering from the wisdom teeth ordeal. My mom bought a huge bottle of Mango Madness flavored gatorade ('cause that was what was on sale... go figure)

I like plain water. Though not when its warm...

I'm half Russian! (And I grew up in Maine... but currently sunny Virginia is my home, so New Mexico won't be that much of a change in temperature, just humidity... YES)

And does anyone have any idea if we'll have access to an iron/ironing board?

o_O Good question, Hannah.

Darn. They should give us a list of what is available and what isn't..
Fridge? Microwave? TV? DVD Player?

-_-

when i was in beijing it was 105 degrees F and it was a wet humid heat which is the worst possible combination

sorry ahra, i was being an ass, but pham doesnt get any apology

my health teacher says that the african bees are agressive because if you kill one, it releases certain pheromones which provoke the entire nest! so if one lands on you and stings you, dont smack it! if you kill it, it naturally will release hormones and you will be COVERED in african bees and that, my friends, will be THE END for you

Matt...I doubt you'd room with me.

On the survey thingy, I put that I'm quiet, spotless (haha...I'm cleaner than girls at my school WOOOO), and pretty much everything else that portrays a reserved character. So I'll probably get a quiet guy as my roommate.

Ahra, Ties are worth 1 point I believe. Wins are 3 points. So either Korea can sweep their next two games, or win one more game and hope for everyone else to screw up their third games.

Haha...that was so weird about Japan. Didn't they have a 1-0 lead and then Australia went on a scoring spree? I bet you're happy about this :D.

I love you too Matt. Let's be friends. Gay guy stare.

Matt, no worries :P
Smart people get into arguments and petty fights all the time :P and its cool. Good thing we got all this argument-ing out of our system, haha. I'm sorry for not being nicer :( friends again? lol.

Good thing you told us about those bees. I don't want to die. Or even spend my summer covered with pink bumps - especially on me face...shudders in fear

Jeremy, I doubt France will lose to anyone else (especially not Korea & Togo) and they'll probably go 2-0-1 or 1-0-2 (if they tie with korea) Switzerland will probably win against Togo, so they'll probably go 1-0-2 (granted they tie with korea) or 2-0-1 (if they beat korea & togo) or 1-1-1. Korea won't win against france, so we'll probably have a 2-1-0 (win with togo &switz, tie with france if LUCKY) or 1-1-1 (win against togo, tie with france, lose to switzerland or whatever).

So, pretty much in order to advance, we need to tie one game (against France) and win one game (against Switzerland). But seeing the team play today with their horrid passes and lack of possesions, I doubt it...sigh I mean, they had a full ONE MAN ADVANTAGE, and they can only score two freakin' goals to win 2-1? Ughh.

On my survey...I don't remember what I put..Hm.
I really really really hope my roommate is cool, since having a anal (lol) and mean-spirited roommate for six weeks is a sure way to kill my summer experience....:P crosses fingers for a cool experience

New Mexico is soooo freakin' hot. Its just..hot. There's no clouds anywhere and the sun just kinda shines on your unrelentlessly and the light reflects from everywhere - the trees, the grass, the sidewalk - and hits you. You die from the heat. 95 is the average here...Goes over a 100 a lot...And kills you...Gah. But its not humid here. You don't really "sweat" - you just burn and feel really really tired and sick. :/ I hate this weather..

LETS ALL MOVE TO RUSSIA! YAY!

you will burn in russia, freeze burn rather

thats terrible pham!

i put down that im very spotless and highly organized and very demanding of the maintenance of personal belongings

so true, so true.....
but then, i dont know....granted, Brazil will win the cup :( (~90%)
then, there is 9% chance of France getting it, and <1% for everyone else :(
talk about fair championate ;) :(

ah well, i dont take any sides and just hope that Mets will win this year :)

I don't really remember what I put on the survey thing either. That was awhile ago.

Bees scare me.

And I need to go put another hat in my suitcase.

Should I even bother bringing more than one pair of long pants? I figured I'd bring a pair of old jeans and a pair of nicer pants... but now I think that might just be a waste of suitcase space.

MY 300TH POST!!!!! :p yay!

celebrate with me!

...I have still to go SSP shopping.
You guys should post what you guys are gong to buy..so I have a small idea what I need....

Cmon Ahra!!! Have faith in Korea!!! They came in 4th last time, and they're obviously really tough competitors.

Lol, I don't think France is automatically going to win the Division. I think South Korea can definitely pull it off...and all we're hoping for is for the French to CHOKE.

You should've seen the French and Swiss play though. It was a huge dissappointment on France's part...they should've won! If they play like this against South Korea, they're not going to beat them.

Haha oh the hate Matt. What if I am your roommate?

Pfft bees. Everyone loves me...even the bees. Them yellow thingies will know that I'm a yellow brother and be chill. Everyone loves me...except Matt :(.

This page is the property of J M Pham.

first of all, congrats Ahra! :)

:)

pshh 50 pages im willing to wager

i dunno, J pham, jump off a bridge? too cleeshay

Funny update:

Harvard SSP-ers now have only 18 pages (<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=143728&page=18&pp=15%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=143728&page=18&pp=15</a> (and definitely more ppl)
so yeah: this proves: Summer Science Program>>>>Harvard even at this :)

(oh no, no, of course i'm not biased :))
