Summer Seminar- What to bring?

if we shouldn't wear a prom dress, what should we wear? those are the only dresses i have. anyone have a picture of something acceptable?

is doolie for a day something that everyone gets to try or is it the class "basic cadet drill" or whatever? i really want to try it just to get a sense of what it's like, but i dont want to do badly. i won't cry or anything, but i'd rather not be caught off guard.

It's something everyone gets to try. It's a very easy form of basic training, and its only for 4 hours or so. It'll make you uncomfortable, and maybe stress out some of you depending on how well you are in shape or mentally prepared, but you can do it.

bree89, pm me with your e-mail address and I will send you pictures of what my element wore.

dont grind on guys my ass, everyone got pretty crazy last year, a couple of us asked the cadre to dance (unsuccessfully i might add) it was a blast....just have fun with it

but dont do anything retarted like the sports campers

Maybe i'm the only one who finds guys grinding on other guys disturbing?? My whole element left after we saw that.

meh, maybe i should have read the whole post

Yeah, I was gone like a fart in the wind during the dance... I ate, "listened" to the guy talk, and then i headed back to my room to chill with my buddies.

I later heard about the guy to guy grinding, and I almost lost my less-than-stellar dinner. I was glad I left that dance early.

A couple of people from my element went to the restaurant/rec room next to the dance and talked with some cadets for an hour or two.

guy on guy grinding? sweet jesus thats disturbing...I just chilled with the rest of the element and watched Fight Club...after having the Wicked C-10 broom destroyed, that is....damn

Hmm... off the topic of guy on guy grinding haha... how exactly do you get accepted for the seminar? Do they look at your GPA and all that? Do you need to pass a fitness test? Someone mentiones that people couldn't do more than 2 puships and miles longer than 10 minutes... how do they expect to get into the academy like that? It just seems odd that some people who want to get into the academy aren't physically fit.

I completely agree with you gglock. But then hopefully summer sci. weeds them out. The application is preety simple. It's basically stats. and a resume. There is no physical requirement, although I remember some warning about "physical conditioning" with the application.

Hey who wants to be nice an give me the list for what to bring becasue I can seem to find mine ANYWHERE! I have looked everywhere I ahve everything else they sent but I can't seem to find the freaking folder that says what to bring!

Hmm i see. Heh sorry for some of my typos, like puships...

Sorry nevermind I found it in the weirdest of places like my laundry room. OH well!

ps. sorry for the typos

The information they request for ss is academic and extra-curricular. They ask for test scores, grades (IIRC), a resume, and an optional recommendation letter. (Those are the big things anyway.)

"Doolie for a day" will be a wake-up call for those who are unfit. They will either decide not to apply, or they will redouble their efforts (like me).

About how many people get accepted to the summer seminar?

I'm pretty sure that last summer... it was 800ish.

For each week? 800 the fist week and 800 the other week?

It's about 400 each.
