I’m just getting ready for the summer seminar(B) and I was wondering if there were any suggestions on what to bring that the list does not say or what to make sure that you dont forget.

I can tell you what not to bring...and that is other clothes...mainly, bring pants and stuff, but for the most part, all of your shirts are provided...I remember I brought all these nice shirts and crap and WABAM there is endless blue summer seminar shirts....oh, and bring a nice shirt/tie for the dance....

Bring an alarm clock... It's a good thing to have.

Also, dont wuss out and go watch the movie during "Doolie For A Day" It's the only real part of the academy that they "introduce" you too, and its extremely tame... (they are really light on you) Dont cry like a girl did when she got yelled at during Doolie For A Day... sorta sad really

haha they actually play a movie during it? wonder why some people would be visiting if they felt they couldn't handle it for a day

Yeah they played a movie at Fairchild... I think it was Black Hawk Down... I'm not sure. But yeah.. there were 12 people in my element... 5 girls and 7 boys... of the 12 of us, all 5 girls and 1 guy participated. We were disappointed in the guys. I mean it was really fun.

So, yeah. Don't wuss out.

^^ What they said.

DO NOT skip out on "doolie for a day." You need to experience at least it (despite it being the lightest of what its like in boot camp) so you have some kind of idea of what your future has in store for you.

Do everything you can, take every opportunity you can, talk to everyone you can, go everywhere you can. It's a one-chance deal to learn all you can about the Academy.

And what to bring? Some jeans, a few undershirts just in case, a nice shirt, pants, and tie for the banquet/dance, alarm clock, money (big one), toiletries, sleeping bag, running shoes, and a good attitude. (plus whatever they tell you to bring in the thing they mail out to you.)

guy4christ, are you an evangelical

If you are going on one of the hikes, you should bring hiking boots if you have them. If not, bring a set of shoes that get good traction over loose surfaces. I went with tennis shoes, and would have had even more fun if I was not slipping so often.

Absolutely do "Dollie for a Day!" It is very fun, even for someone who was not in shape (like me).

Listen to the other posts, those are the main things to remember!

Bring a jacket. The mornings there can be awfully cold.

Also I'll add to the list of people saying absolutely do "dollie day". It's the most you will get out of the week.

Bring some physical fitness too. Don't be that guy who couldn't do 2 pushups (saw that happen).

So on the part of phsical fitness and whatnot how in shape are we talking here. I am in fairly good shape because my summer league has started for swimming but are we talking running 5 miles and hundreds of pushups type shape of like running a 1-2 miles and a few pushups here or there?

For girls how dressed up are we talking nice skirt and this cute silk halter I have or something more dressy?

running a mile ...once... and doing a few pushups, dont worry about it

shorty, I went last year. I would just say make sure to be really conservative about it. I don't know about a halter top, make sure it isn't skimpy. Maybe a nice skirt and a nice shirt with sleeves. I wore a cute sleeveless dress but threw a white sweater over it. If you pm me, I can send you a picture of what my element was wearing.

Ahh the dance...... lol.

I remember having a good time...;), my favorite was the Majors jumping in trying to separate the young men and ladies who were dancing in what they determined to be "scandalous". Basically, don't grind and if you dance stay a little farther apart than you would at a high school dance.

I didn't even do Summer Seminar and I say DON'T wear a halter top.

(this is my first post here on cc)

i'm going to summer seminar (B) also, and i was wondering how difficult pt is. that's my biggest problem and i'm trying to work on it, but i dont think i can be ready in 11 days. I can only do about 7 pushups and my mile is like, 11 minutes. and that's here in new york, so i know my endurance will be less. does anyone have suggestions for how to get ready?

also, how long should the dress/skirt be for the dinner? i have my prom dresses, but they're kinda short, so i'm wondering what's acceptable..

The PT is not that difficult and if you can't keep up nothing will happen. As I recall, we did PT on the terrazzo grass in one giant mass and we did about 40 pushups, some flutter kicks, some situps, and then ran 2 laps around the terrazzo.

Don't wear a prom dress to the dance.

Just try your best. They might yell at you (in "Doolie for a Day"), but don't take it personally. The PT there is just to help you get a basic idea of how things work. Again, "Doolie for a Day" is a must! Even if you do horribly, at least you know what to work on.

The dance...Last year, some guy forgot to pack a nice shirt. So, he wore his multi-colored bath robe to the dance. He was the first one on the dance floor, and was disco-dancing! Quite a few people cracked up when they saw this...Do not try the same stunt though!

And don't grind on other guys.
