you guys are definitely in!
let me know though.

is it to late to apply?

^^^^

For this year??? LOL

Hi quick question, I got accepted to the summer class at UP, does that mean I cant start in the fall? I’m not really sure how the summer class works. Like would I just take classes there in the summer, then go on to join the fall class? Any help about what the summer session is would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you attend the summer season, you are automatically in for fall. Penn State asks students to attend the summer season if their GPA is high enough for main campus but SAT is low or vice versa. Its a great way to get to know the campus and get adjusted to the new atmosphere. You do have to pay for it separately so think before joining the summer season…

I got in for summer and im really happy because it was one of my top choices but now i dont know if i should give up my summer or go to pitt( my other top choice) is doing the summer program fun?

If you were accepted at pitt, I recommend going to pitt.

I wish I was accepted into Pitt, it’s my dream school

My daughter is a freshman this year. She did not do summer session but was envious of those who did. They already had a group of close friends and it really helped their adjustment to school. Everyone she spoke to who did summer session really loved it so don’t think of it as giving up your summer. If it is your top school it really is a small price to pay to be there!

XtremePower What is your reasoning/deciding factors for Pitt vs Penn? My son was accepted at both. For him, Pitt was 5 hrs away. But it never hurts to have all the facts…

So if we’re accepted for summer/fall does that mean we do not go for spring 2014?

Also if we attend summer and apply for fafsa, does the money we receive for 2012-2013 reduce the amount we would receive for 2013-2014?

Nobody really knows the answer for your second…you might get less money for the fall term or you might not…idk what you mean by spring 2014…there are two semesters you start at late august and end around late december and then you again start at late january next year till may or June not sure…so therefore you will be attending classes normally…being accepted to summer season means you just have to attend the summer if you want to get in for fall…after that everything else is like everyone else

133320 Hi! If you attend summer at UP you are automatically accepted for the fall/spring session. My son is attending the summer session (June/Aug)(6wks) and that is what he was told. I do know that (2) FAFSA forms are required one for (summer) and one for (spring/fall). I do not have a lot of information so you may want to contact admissions to get all the facts or ask where to call. I am new to this too! BELIEVE62

If we do the summer session, and choose to room with another student who is also attending the summer session… in the fall would we get a new roommate or would we stick with the roommate from the summer session?

What I mean is that I know I go to summer and then I go for fall term does that mean I go to college from late august to may? Also for FAFSA I applied for 2013-2014 does that cover the whole fall term or would I need to reapply again for my sophomore college year?

@lawnyy you get a new roommate
@133320 yes you goto college from late august to may but I think you come home around january after the end of first semester…2013-2014 fafsa is for your freshman year at college, in your sophomore year you will have to do the fafsa for 2014-2015 and then 2 more fafsa’s for your junior and senior year. Also for summer season do the 2012-2013 fafsa…

lawnny When you accept for the Penn State summer session you will also need to log onto eliving. There you will see housing listed for summer AND fall/spring. The summer does not give you an option of where to dorm but you can request a roommate. You will need their ID number and they will need yours. Both must input. The fall asks about dorm selection, location and roommate. So you can select the same person BOTH times if they select you as well. Hope this helps. BELIEVE62

lawnny Freshman are guaranteed housing the first year but after that it is a lottery system. I believe there are no guarantees the first year that you will get your first choice dorm style or location. I read somewhere there are 42,000 kids and 13,598 rooms. Yikes!

lawnyy I forgot to mention that you come home before the fall session for two weeks or so. We were told you can storage your stuff on campus for fall instead of bringing it home.
