I'm an incoming freshman considering doing summer session next year (between freshman and sophomore year). I plan on taking a chemistry class (if I don't get it during winter / spring quarter) and physics to prepare for the MCAT; this will be about 8 units, 11 units if I also take the chem lab. I will be staying on campus.

My family EFC is 0 and, unfortunately, I think it will continue to stay like that next year.

How much would it cost and what would financial aid for the summer sessions look like?

Also, how hard is it to get classes?

2013 Summer Sessions fees are $271 per unit. There are also Instructional Enhancement and registration fees. Refer to [UCLA Summer Sessions-Fees-Fees](http://www.summer.ucla.edu/fees/fees.htm).

Summer aid may include University Grant, Pell Grant, Academic Competitiveness Grant, Work-Study, and various loans.

Summer classes are easy to get if you are fast; summer registration is first-come-first-served, so they’re as easy as you are quick with your computer mouse. Summer classes usually take longer to full up.

You can get a free ride for the summer if you have a 0 EFC. I have a 2 EFC and I’m getting a full ride right now for the summer. The summer courses barely fill up. No one wants to take classes during the summer.

@phospholipase Thanks for telling me how much it costs. For some reason I had problems finding that even though I could find the info on grants and whatnot.

@philosoup Thanks for the reply. It helps put my mind at ease a little.
