Should I take classes at UCLA for summer session or at a local community college? Isn't it a lot cheaper? Pros/cons?

community college, it's easier grading wise.

community college is definitely a lot cheaper. grade/GPA doesnt carry over into your UCLA GPA, which can be good or bad (if its a hard class, you can get a mediocre grade and pass without it affecting your GPA, but if its an easy class you wont get to use that high grade to boost your GPA). i'd say only do it for GEs or other random requirements, not any of your major classes.

just make sure the classes are equivalent to a UCLA class so they will be transferred.

check assist.org and/or the GE articulation agreement list on the college academic counseling website. and even if the class is on the lists, they'll probably still give you grief about it when you transfer it in.

my friend took a writing 2 GE class at a CC that was on the articulation list, but murphy made her get the syllabus and take it to the corresponding UCLA department and have them say that the course is equivalent/comparable to the UCLA counterpart before they gave her credit for it. i took two GEs that were on the lists at a CC, and they assigned the units correctly...but they only gave me 4 units per class instead of 5 units per class so it didnt clear my GE requirements. i had to fill out a petition to get the extra unit leftover waived for each of the two GE categories.

cc all the way i love that place. easy grades. but be careful cuz some units don't transfer.

Do you think I should take Management 1B at UCLA or cc? I don't think the grade will transfer.

Would it be possible to take Math 32B, 33AB over summer at Berkeley or a local community college? I want to get rid of some requirements since I'm already behind on my 4-year plan already. If so, where would you guys recommend me taking them?

oh and does anyone know if there's a website that shows equivalent ucla <-> cal classes? thanks~

^ your department/school website might have it...i know engineering has one anyway.

does anyone know if i can take the equivalent to chem 20B/L at a community college even though i've already taken 20A here? i was told that it might not transfer since there's an ampersand following it on assist.org, meaning you're supposed to take the whole series in one place. or if no one here knows, do i still go ask Murphy even though i'm in HSSEAS?
