Summer Session Suicide?

I am taking Phys 2a and Math 20c first session, and Phys 2b and Math 20e second session. It seems doable, but I really want to get A's. Is the summer session significantly harder to get A's in classes such as these? What has been your summer session experience?

i’ve found that they’re generally easier (although more accelerated) than the regular school year versions. professors and TAs are more lenient when it comes to the amount of material, but your performance still hinges on how much you study relative to your classmates. if you’re working 40h/week on top of classes, then it won’t be very easy to get those straight As you want.

“but your performance still hinges on how much you study relative”

How is the competition in these summer courses?

bump, Is this schedule unrealistic for the summer, or is it common for students to take 8 units each session?

really, it depends.

some will struggle with one class, others will excel with three. your question is pretty much asking the same thing as “is it common to take 16 units every quarter?” you know the answer to that.

fwiw, there’s a unit cap for what the school deems “recommended” for the summer.

I know a lot of students who have had great experiences during summer sessions. Despite the accelerated schedule, there’s something to be said for only having to focus on two sets of readings/assignments instead of 4 during a normal quarter. Plus, classes are usually smaller and both profs and TAs are a lot more relaxed.
