Hi!
I just accepted my offer into the Summer Session this summer and was wondering what I could expect? I am not able to sign up for the LEAP program because there are very few things left to choose from. I'm kind of worried that because I will not be in LEAP that will wont have any oppertunites to make new friends or have any classes with freshmen?

There are many freshmen starting in the summer who are not in LEAP. Contrary to what is stated somewhere in the LEAP info, the Prides are not housed together so the students on your floor won’t really have any immediate bond through LEAP. (Son was there last summer and none of the good friends he made were in his LEAP, they were from his floor or he met them hanging around outside or wherever …) And I would guess that the classes you are taking are freshmen classes, so you are likely to be with other incoming freshmen.

The LEAP classes are almost all in the morning (about 9-12 or so), so if you schedule your classes in the morning, you will be free in the afternoon with the other LEAP students. But it really doesn’t matter because there are so many non-LEAP freshmen.

Don’t worry! You will be with tons of other incoming freshmen looking for new friends.

So you will not be on a floor with students who are all in the same LEAP or even in a LEAP. My S started during the summer session last year. He was in LEAP, his roommate was not, and the best friends that he made were not in his LEAP. He met them on his floor or just hanging out. He even went on a hiking trip with a different LEAP.

Regarding your classes, they are probably freshman classes and will therefore be full of new students looking to meet friends. Don’t worry! There will be tons of new students wanting to meet new friends. Have fun!

Sorry about the duplicates. I thought I had replied the other day, but it didn’t show up. I reposted, and now the original reply is posted along with the two copies of the new reply.
