So I know slots are still being sent out…but my application was processed on 11/11. Has anyone else who was processed then (or earlier) not gotten a response yet? It’s just been over 6 weeks now, so I’m a little anxious

Have you checked the website @theatreguy321 ? Maybe your letter was lost in the mail. If you perform a search on your name your time/date should show up on your profile.

Strawhats updated my S’s time and date already. We are relieved it was that easy, transportation for the Sunday audition would have been tricky.

@MTMajorCook it just tells me that it was processed on 11/11. I know I’m probably just overthinking it, but maybe I’ll see if I can get in touch with them if I don’t here something by the end of the week.

StrawHat doesn’t just take kids on first come, first serve basis. They look at the kids’ resumes, experience, school, voice type, etc. They try to get a good cross section of type, etc. Last year (when my D was a freshman), she submitted her app the week it opened, but didn’t get her slot until mid-January. We had given up…thought she had not been given a slot. (She’s a legit soprano, and there is less of a demand for them.) This year, she got her slot early…but if you haven’t heard yet, it simply means they haven’t decided yet. The web site says, “Audition Selection
is just that- selective, and the process is by its very nature a subjective one. There is no mathematical equation, no
codified objective measure by which we compare one application to another. Our job is to assemble what appear to be the most promising applicants to the companies that hope to hire them.” I guess what I’m trying to say is if you haven’t heard, chances are, they probably haven’t decided on you yet. If they got your application and processed it, I would just be patient. You’ll hear from them. Good luck.

Hello Everyone… for those of you that have been to a MUNY audition before, I have a question concerning callback time slots. According the website, Callbacks begin on Feburary 1st, does anyone know how long or to what time callbacks would be completed? I’m trying to book my S airline ticket on that Sunday, but I’m concerned (should he be granted a callback) that he would have to leave too early to catch his flight back to school. Thanks :">
My son was there until about 6 on the callback day.
Thanks @lojosmo… looks like he will be leaving on Monday Morning, not Sunday
FYI - CLO posted their dates (conflicts with the MUNY singing auditions) and MT Witchita apps are open.
Last year PCLO conflicted with the MUNY dance call.
Thanks for info … this is not great news about CLO and MUNY being on the same weekend… my S could audition for CLO on Thursday (since he lives in Pittsburgh) and still get to the MUNY auditions by Saturday, the problem is both have there callbacks on Sunday. Impossible to be in both places, so now my S has a hard decision, which audition to attend…
Not sure which would be a better chance and/or opportunity for casting.
Any thoughts from fellow CC members would be appreciated
I dunno @Inspired59 I GOTTA believe CMU on his resume is really going to mean something to the CLO. They advertise they hire locally first…I know his residence isn’t local but still. Or maybe I’m just being selfish cause I can go see him if he’s here LOL
One thing that struck me about the CLO, which is different from last year, is they aren’t casting for all the shows. Kiny Boots and Cinderella must be the tour?
Inspired…both are great places to work. I think one thing for your son to consider is to examine the seasons at both venues and see if he either prefers one season over another, as well as which shows might suit his type, etc. Then, it seems logical to me that once that is considered, that it is far less costly for him to attend PCLO auditions than the MUNY ones since he lives in the same city. Further, I think PCLO likely has a history of working with CMU students and so that may be slightly more favorable.
@MTMajorCook ~ Kinky and Cinderella are tours as was Evita last season.
I just heard Billy Porter will be here with Kinky Boots I can’t wait!
^^JEALOUS!!
Really terrific article on what hiring reps are looking for - and what turns them off - in the Spring 2015 edition of Southern Theatre Magazine (SETC). We just received it in the mail, online version not posted yet. Lots of good advice on what to prepare (singing/monologues), how to be prepared and show yourself to best advantage, what to wear (not wear), what to have at your fingertips for callbacks, etc. If you can get your hands on a copy (free to SETC membership), it’s good reading just in time for the “season”.
So My S decided to audition for CLO, which MUNY auditions will not happen this year. Maybe next year the two will not confict with each other. @MTMajorCook, I too am Jealous… I heard about Billy Porter resuming his role, maybe if my S gets into CLO, this year he can stay a little longer to see that show
I bought a 3 show package so that I would be guaranteed a ticket!, I know Kinky Boots is going to sell out Billy has a huge following here. So not to rub it in but I’m going for sure and I’m waiting at the stage door :)).
^^I officially don’t like @MTMajorCook!!!
Just survived S’s first unified “professional” audition for summer stock at OTA. If any one is interested in blow by blow, or has specific questions about the experience, PM me.
