What are the options available to students for summer storage? The UPS store option seems pretty expensive to me and the school only allows two items per student. Do students use the Uhaul pods or do the fraternity houses allow members to store their stuff there?

Most fraternities rent one to three large pods that sit outside the house all summer. It’s safe and convenient but they do really heat up over the summer so might want to be careful about what you store. I never had issues with it though. Things can possibly be stored inside the house/inside rooms as well, but I don’t think it’s technically allowed.

I would say most non-fraternity students rent a storage space from a nearby facility, often in groups. There are a couple in the area.

S2 used Dorm Room Movers. Stored 2 items in with school. Had local friend store additional items for him. Shipped one box with Dorm movers and stored additional box with them. Cost about $150. Was very happy with service.

Thanks Pancaked and Maxsdad…if the students use an off campus storage facility, how do they get their stuff to the facility?

Gotta borrow a friend’s car. Guess that’s the advantage of Dorm Room Movers-- never heard of them but it sounds like a very convenient service.

@Momthreeboys Last spring, my son and some friends used one of the zipcars to move stuff to an off-site facility. My son uses the zipcars from time to time for various things.

If you have a significant amount of stuff or want to share the expense with friends, we’ve used Green Truck movers and A+ Storage. Very happy with both.
