Summer Storage

Hello,

Could anyone give advice on how to handle summer storage? my daughter will be working on campus in the middle of the summer; and there is one week gap between moving out and new summer housing moving in and two weeks gap between summer housing moving out and fall housing available. Anyone has experience with short team storage? the price seems pretty high ($196 labor + $196/month).

Thank you.

When my son was in a similar situation, there was interim housing available. It was pretty expensive, if I recall correctly, but saved a lot of the hassle that would be involved with storing two separate times.

What storage service would you guys suggest using? Looking at past threads, I know many have suggested Hudson, but has anyone used OffCampusStorage? From their site https://www.offcampusstorage.com/order.cfm?CID=1</a> it seems reliable, you get a sealed bin, and can schedule pickup/delivery times.

My daughter used Manhattan mini-storage the past three summers. It is a few blocks down from Columbia, but she packed herself and, with the help of friends, rolled most of her belongings down Broadway to the facility using the large bins Columbia provides. I don’t recall exact pricing, but it was less than one hundred/month. I’m not sure if this would be helpful in your situation since you’re not looking for continuous summer storage, and I don’t know if they prorate prices for less than a month.
