My DS18 is likely National Merit and UTD is currently his first choice school. Can anyone tell me how the $6K for a semester aboard works? Can this be taken during the summer and not reduce the 8 semesters of the NM scholarship? DS would like to minor in Asian Studies (Chinese) and Major in Comp Sci, can he earn any credits that would apply to his major or minor during a summer program? I’d love to hear from any UTD NM folks about how they used their study abroad funds.
he gets 6K for semester abroad IN ADDITION to the 8 semesters of scholarship. one option is to take a summer class or two at Oxford or Cambridge. that should be around 5-6K and he wouldn’t have to touch his 8 semesters of NM scholarships.
One of our tour guides was using it to go to Cuba with a medical group. He was premed. The CS tour guide had not studied abroad - so no help there.
