Summer Term and AP Credit

I was admitted to FSU and have to start with the summer term. However, I'm currently enrolled in AP Calc AB and was wondering how senior year AP credit would apply if I'm in the summer term. Saying I pass my AP exam, I would be given credit for MAC1105, MAC1140/MAC 1114, and MAC2311; but, I wouldn't know if I passed it when registering for summer classes.... I definitely don't want to start out the fall term with MAC 1105, so I'll end up signing up to take it in the summer either way. But, if I pass my exam, would they go ahead and give me credit for MAC 1140/MAC1114, and then I could start with calc 2 in the fall? Thanks!

FSU does give MAC1105 credit for SAT/ACT scores:

“Credit for MAC1105 is awarded for SAT Quantitative sub-scores of 680 or higher or an ACT Math sub-score of 30 or higher. This credit should be posted prior to your arrival at Orientation. Although college credit is not awarded, FSU will allow students to skip MAC1105 if they have an SAT Quantitative sub-score of 600 or higher or an ACT Math sub-score of 26 or higher.”

Hopefully you meet one of these criteria. At orientation you will meet with an advisor. They will discourage you from taking any classes that you may have already tested out of.

There is also the CLEP exam. If you don’t meet the SAT/ACT credit criteria and don’t pass your AP exam you can try and test out of college algebra and pre-caluclus through CLEP exams. You can take them at your convenience at the FSU testing center. The test cost roughly $80 each.

Yeah, I remember during Orientation I was going to sign up for MAC1114/1140, and my advisor told me that since it looked like I might get credit for those classes anyway based off test scores, my advisor ended up telling me to just not register for those classes, and that if I ended up needing them to just register during Drop/Add.
