Hi (: I was assigned Sunset Village and this weekend I'll be accepting it once I figure out which meal plan I want. What I've gathered about it so far is that it's quiet but not antisocial and the buildings are kind of old. But I'd love to hear from those who have lived there (: I have a triple (does this mean I have a private/shared bath?) and would I be in Delta Terrace? Sorry I'm really confused about all of this, haha.

Thank you~ (:

I also got Sunset Village! high five from the research I have done, if your housing assignment says SHARED, at least in SV, that means that a bathroom is shared between two rooms. (or 5 singles) if bathroom situation is not mentioned, then the bathroom is private.

Also SV contains Delta Terrace, Courtside, and one other, I forgot. From my research, again, you should be able to be placed in any one of three.

SV '12 - '13 Woot!

Yay! I just want to know which one I’m in… ): Do you know when they’ll tell us all that for certain?

All I see is triple so I think that means I have a private bathroom… so a bathroom for just the three of us? That sounds really, really nice.

Hopefully I’ll get to meet you! (: The plazas sound really, really nice, haha. Quiet enough so that studying can be done but not super antisocial… I’m really excited (:

When did you apply ? You go your housing assignment really early

@tomatoman: Most freshmen students should have already received their housing assignments.

I got Sunset Village, private Triple as well. But I submitted a CAR for a hall—I just think that a private will be too excluded for me (and expensive). But if my CAR is rejected, I’ll be fine at SV. Congrats!

Haha yeah I’m surprised they came out so early. I’m assuming the more precise information (like where in Sunset Village I’ll be residing) and roommates will come in August or so?

Good luck with your CAR! If it doesn’t work out, I hope to see you at Sunset Village :)

@unflawless: Right, roommate assignments usually come out during August. In a previous post I incorrectly said that housing offers come out in August, but clearly I was mistaken. I was thinking about the roommate assignments.

@misticzZ sorry I heard delta Terrance and thought transfer for some reason

My daughter was in Sunset Village her freshman year (she is now a senior). Somehow can’t remember the name of the building but ti was not Courtside or Delta Terrace. She had a triple and there was a bathroom for their room which was shared by another triple room that connected through the bathroom. So basically one bathroom for 6 girls (or guys). The room was nice, air-conditioned, and well, a dorm room. It worked out very well for her. She picked one roommate after meeting her on a Facebook page for their class and they made plans to go to the same orientation and meet. They ended up getting an apt. together off campus for their sophomore year and are still good friends. The third girl was just a random third person but was very nice and they all got along. Sunset Village is a bit more quiet than the res. halls since you don’t have to share a bathroom with a whole floor and you don’t have as many people walking up and down long hallways. But my daughter found it to be plenty social and she enjoyed that it was a bit more quiet.

My daughter is very outgoing, is in a sorority, and has no problem making friends. If you are quiet and shy and usually have a hard time meeting new people than a res hall might be better for you. But for most people the plazas are great.

Thank you very much! That really helped a lot (:

Inquiring Mind: She was probably in Canyon Point. That is where freshman admits are roomed, along with Courtside. Delta Terrace is for transfers.

Further, I second Inquiring Mind. While I am not her daughter, she might as well have been describing my experience in the place.

If you were given a private room, you’re probably in Courtside. Shared ones are in Canyon Point.

You’re right! It was Canyon Point. I couldn’t remember the name of the building. Once again, a good experience for my daughter. If you want a more lively, social atmosphere than go for a res hall but for most people Sunset Village will be a good place to live.
