Whats the deal? Bing -> Cornell transfer???
Someone explain.

i heard this story somewhere else that if u get certain gpa or above, you could transfer to cornell....i dunno......i just heard it from somewhere sorry i hope this helped you ^^

there is no articulate agreement between the two schools ... it'd just be a rumor at most.

The only agreement Cornell has is with certain community colleges ... and the agreement isn't "we'll admit a student if they have a certain GPA" it's an agreement about which credits will transfer into certain programs (like human ecology or agricultural sciences).

I know someone who had one of those "guranteed transfers" to Cornell coming out of high school. She attended Bing for her freshman year, so maybe they're related in that sense. She also said Cornell is "big on transfers" in general. I don't think simply going to Bing would give you an advantage over other transfer applicants.

the "guaranteed transfer" is something that has nothing to do with binghamton.

the GT is a way for cornell to increse enrollment w/o having to admit more freshmen (due to lack of housing). Students who are given a GT are allowed to transfer to cornell after two years at another institution (any place they want pretty much). After one or two years, they will re-apply by sending in transcripts and so forth. You could go to another top private university, a state school like bing, or a community college; doesn't matter where.

although Cornell does enroll alot of transfer students, it's not an easy way to sneak into the university since only around 30% of those who apply are accepted. Also, this number includes the GT's who have to essentially 'apply again' (as long as they meet the requirements, they'll be admitted as promised). The acceptance rate w/o the GT's is in the low 20's for most schools.
