So guys out of all the colleges on my list I got accepted only to SUNY Binghamton and University of Minnesota: Twin Cities. I am still waiting for the results of Berkeley, which I am almost sure I will be rejected, and got waitlisted at UCSD.

I will be an economics undergraduate. The prices will be roughly the same.

*Which one of the two colleges is better?

*In which one I have more chances to transfer to a better university later and/or have better opportunities for further education after I receive my major?

*Should I try to get into UCSD, or just forget about it?

Minnesota has a good reputation for economics (and math). Binghamton is probably not even the top SUNY for economics.

How affordable is each school for you?

Binghamton is a good school, but Minnesota has a better reputation overall.

Minnesota is huge 30,000 students while Binghamton is merely large about 11,000. Minnesota is a big 10 school (i.e., big time athletics) and is in/near a large city – Minneapolis.

Binghamton – small-time athletics and is semi-rural. Binghamton is a city, but not a large one.

Overall – if you’re concerned about reputation and ranking – Minnesota is probably a notch up on Binghamton. Otherwise, I think they would offer very different experiences, and a choice could be made based on which you like better.

Thank you guys for the answers. I am an international student from Brazil. Here I live in a 2 million people city. However the only concern I had was with the education quality itself. The price for both will be the same since they don’t give scholarships etc for international students. I think it will be Minnesota then :)

PS: Coincidently, last year I was in an exchange program in Texas in a 200 inhabitant town called Zephyr, the same as your username

Minnesota seems like the obvious choice then.
