You can add TX, FL and WI to the list with much better state universities.
VA has two and CA at least 5 public universities ranked higher than NY's finest.
NY never had a flagship university. Instead, they have multiple mediocre state universties meeting the needs of NY. Unfortunately, the better NY students go elsewhere.

Certainly the ones who can afford to.

yeah hopeful. It's a little untoughtful to make a statement like that. As weeine said, not everyone can afford other schools.

lulubelle:
Here's perhaps a good thing about SUNY B. (Now, keep in mind that I graduated in 1979, but, when I was there it seemed as though EVERY single kid was pre-law or pre-med. It was pretty cliche.

BUT - lo' and behold! When I get the alumni journal now, every "kid" is either a surgeon or a partner in a law firm. So, make what you want of it, but obviously many of the students worked hard and met their (or their dad's ;) ) goals.

New York and every other state should do all they can do to improve their state universities. New York does offer something that no other state provides, public colleges at an Ivy League School. The best undergraduate business degree in a public institution in NY is in the Agricultural Economics Program at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Cornell University but that wasn't one of the op's options. If I was unsure about a school, I would look to see where their alumni went, if satisfied, keep it on the list.

yea, and according to my dad, bing produces some solid alumni. of course college is what u make of it, and i am a motivated student, who (i beleive) can attempt to make a bad situation into a not so bad one, but i cannn picture however, being sad when i get there knowing i turned down great oppurtinites else where....such as u of illinois-urbana which i got into...i just dont wnat to go to u of i tho. there somethign about it. binghamton sounds so much better to me for some reason...
