I'm trying to decide what SUNY to apply too, and I heard SUNY Binghamton is considered the top SUNY for certain majors. I want to pursue business/law in the future. Is SUNY Binghamton a good school for undegrad business/economics/political science etc. Does SUNY Binghamton have good law school placement?

My stats are decent so I was wondering if there is an honors college/accelerated programs that I could go for, and my chances for Binghamton:
stats- GPA 94uw SAT I: 2280 (cr.m.w:710.770.800) SATIIs: mathii/bio/us: 760/730/730
related ecs: DECA Business Club Regional President and National Finalist, Varsity Tennis Captain, Model UN Officer Outstanding Delegate
awards: likely NMF finalist (229 score), Williams College Book Award, National Spanish Exam Silver Medalist

Bing has one of the best business schools in the country so if you’re planning on business or corporate law, you might want to apply to SOM. I don’t know how competitive your stats are for that though.

If you wanted to go the liberal arts route and major in PPL or poli sci, Bing is also very highly ranked for those majors. You’ll most likely get in with your stats.

There is a “Binghamton Scholars” program that if you qualify, you’ll be notified about.

Bing has very good law school placement. That’s what I’m planning on doing so if you have any questions about PPL or pre-law I can try and answer them.

thanks caemin.
What is PPL, and do they have a pre-law major?
Also I’m using commonapp to apply and it says Bing doesn’t have a supplement to Commonapp, so where do I indicate that I’m interested in SOM.

I think you could do better than bing, but then again admissions at the ivies are unpredictable. I think you’ll be fine, just don’t do the application the night before it’s due.

PPL is Philosophy, Politics and Law, an interdisciplinary major with courses in philosophy, history, sociology, and political science. I love it XD

It’s a part of the Philosophy department.

And yes, I think by indicating business as your interest, it automatically places the app in SOM’s domain. I don’t think there’s a separate application for SOM but check Bing’s website to be sure.

There’s also the PriceWaterhouse Cooper Scholars program but I don’t know anything about how one qualify for that, only that its based on SOM admission.

Edit again: Pre-law is track not a major. There is a pre-law advising office with both appointments and walk-in hours. PPL and poli sci both are on the pre-law track.

Edit: there is no supplement on the Common App because it already asks the questions Bing does on the supplement for the SUNY application. The SUNY app is really bare-bones, it gets basic info and establishes residency. That’s it.
