Any help would be appreciated..any advise...

First of all, your daughter has a good mix of schools and I’m certain she will have several acceptances to consider.

As for chances, ponder this: There is a senior at the school my wife teaches at. She has a 93 average in the most rigorous curriculum offered at the school, is in the Top 5% of her class, excellent ECs and excellent teacher recs. Her SATs, however, are around 1030 (M&CR). Her guidance counselor told her that she had no chance of admission to Cortland. Is the guidance counselor crazy or just exceptionally conservative? From what I’ve heard from public school guidance counselors lately one would think the SUNYs are a tougher admit than the Ivy Leagues.

Thank You for the reply…My daughter really wants to go to Plattsburgh…I on the other hand would like to see her go to Cortland…In any event, SUNY would be a much better option for me cost wise.
Thank You again

Cortland has the reputation of being an extremely athletic school. Lots of students interested in physical education, sport management and coaching. Lots of involvement in varsity, club and recreational sports (this was the major reason the young woman at my wife’s school had made Cortland her #1 choice). Depending upon your daughter’s interests this might make Cortland more or less appealing.

Anyone else have an opinion?

Cortland’s not one of the more selective SUNYs. She should be fine.

Thank you…thats my first choice for her…her 1st choice is SUNY Plattsburgh
