I know they say not having a callback does not mean you weren't accepted and getting one doesn't mean you weren't rejected. I just I am having a hard time believing it. I auditioned today and out of about 80 kids who auditioned 8 were called back. I don't know what to think.

That’s right, AthenaL, you don’t know what to think. You can’t be sure you have been accepted until they actually tell you you have been accepted. So in the meantime, you are going to need to keep auditioning, and, yes, keep improving your audition pieces.

You can’t be absolutely sure that you won’t be accepted, that’s true, but it makes more sense to play it safe then to just say “They are probably going to accept me, so I don’t need to do any more work.” Instead of this, you should play it safe and keep working.

Sorry if that seems to be harsh, but this is good preparation for life as a real working actor.

Oh, that didn’t come off as harsh at all! Thank you for your input! I was just curious because I have heard from many people that no callback means you’re out, but then again they don’t work with admissions, and you never really know what they want for that particular year. Thanks!

Athena, you couldn’t have said it better:

“You never really know what they want for that particular year.”

This should be a header for this entire forum!

Any acceptance to an auditioned program is a great accomplishment, and no rejection should be taken personally. I can’t say that enough! All you need is one school - good luck!
