anyone applying to any SUNY schools?? Im proabably going to Plattsburgh, but I am wondering what kind of people are doing the same.

i have a cousin who transfered into suny albany - he loves it.

The SUNY schools are an interesting bunch. They are reasonably selective and attract students with high SATs and GPAs, but their rankings and pitifully low when compared to their selectivity.

For example:
SUNY Binghamton (widely regarded as NY's best public school) has a low acceptance rate (43%), a relatively high SAT Range (1160-1350), and a high average GPA (44% of students had higher than a high school GPA of 3.75).

In spite of all this, the school is only #71.

That in my opinion is because of 1) lack of professors to teach required courses, 2) lack of stregnth in programs and 3) red tape

there are other problems with the SUNY system, but others could tell you more.
