Does anyone know which SUNYS offer Student Teaching on Long Island?
Such as…
New Paltz
Geneseo
Oneonta
Plattsburgh
Cortland
Oswego
(None that are actually on Long Island)
If the information isn’t on their website, your best bet is to ask the colleges directly, but I’m not sure that should be a deciding factor in your college decision. Why do you need to do student teaching on Long Island?
My friend goes to Geneseo and he was allowed to do his teacher shadowing wherever he wanted, but I’m not sure about where he will be able to do the student teaching.
My high school was very close to SUNY Cortland, and almost all of our student teachers were from there, so my guess is SUNY Cortland makes you stay local.
These are just guesses though. Ask the schools.
Back in the early 2000’s Oswego would let you, but you have to be evaluated by your Professor a few times during the semester so I don’t know how that was accomplished or if you would be charged for travel.
