If I want to apply to Yale who superscores and requires ACT with wiritng and I have taken the ACT with writing once can I take it without writing next time?
Sure. If you are happy with your current writing score.
It should be fine if they do superstore. You just need to fulfill the requirement once.
First, Yale superscores SATs but only partly superscores ACT. If you submit multiple ACTs with writing it will use that test with the highest composite to determine admission along with the highest writing score from any ACT test, i.e., it superscores for the writing score but not others. Second, as to the issue of what Yale will do if you submit one ACT with writing and one without, I asked Yale to answer that question about four years ago amd it answered that only ACTs with writing will be used to determine admission and thus if you submit one with writing and one without, the one without will not be considered even if it has the higher composite. Whether that has changed since then, I do not know.
