Superscore?

I got a 2240 on my SAT first try last October and I never bothered to retake it since I thought it was good enough. Should I retake the SAT for a super score or would it look better to colleges that I only took it once and scored a 2240. Can they even tell?

Also, which colleges super score?
And how does my SAT rank up for the Ivies and Cal, Uchicago, Northwestern, Notre Dame, and Stanford?

Assuming your score is a well balanced 2240, you’ve already reached the point of diminishing returns. Your SAT score is good enough for any of the universities you’ve named, and a higher SAT score wouldn’t really be any better than good enough.

If you have grades to match your standardized test scores, you’ll move on to the phase of the admissions process where they’re deciding among applicants who are academically well qualified. At this point, they start to base their decisions on other things (e.g., teacher recommendations, essays, unusual extracurricular accomplishments), and not on the difference between 2240 and 2300, or 3.92 and 3.96.

Sikorsky - this is a great post! I think you very quickly made a great point that needs to be made over and over on this website. Once you get to a certain level on tests and GPA’s it really doesn’t matter - enjoy yourself and keep working hard but don’t keep studying for standardize tests!

Forgot to mention: 720 critical reading
750 math 770 writing with 9 essay.
So in your opinion, I shouldn’t retake it?
A 2300 superscore wouldn’t give me more of a slight edge?
My GPA is 4.7 weighted 3.9 unweighted, class rank 10/700

I think 2240 is fine for many schools.

Your SATI and II scores are strong. Focus on the rest of your application.

Yes, this is exactly my opinion (and, obviously, others’ too). I thought I had said it rather clearly.

@ahsmuoh–thanks.
