i've already taken the SAT twice.. and my superscore is 2300, my best being 2270. Do you think i should retake it?

Honestly, I don’t think it would be wise. I stuck in a similar dilema, but I have only given it once, so mine is a no brainer. However, in your case I think it woulld be best to concentrate on other parts of your application as you have already given it twice, and gotten a great score.
Trust me 2270 or 2300 is a great score.

do you think i have a chance at say stanford or something with that score? or would that score bring me down?

No, your score is fine. The only reason to retake would be if you have an uneven score distribution. For example, I had a 2300 (with a 710 on math) but retook to get a 2340 with a better math score. Realistically, a 40-50 point increase is not huge, but if the improvement comes in one category, your scores will look even more impressive than they already do. Either way, a 2270/2300 superscore is a pretty spectacular score.

Your score is good enough for stanford, as far as SAT scores go. A friend of mine got into stanford with a score of 2230, same as mine.
