Supplement Advice - Same Subject as Common App Personal Essay

The first supplement, reflecting an idea an experience that has been important in my intellectual development, is basically what I have already discussed in the "Personal Essay" in the Common App.

Should I discuss this idea/experience further? Should I re-discuss it completely? Should I at any point refer back to that essay? Should I discuss a different experience or idea? I'm having a hard time choosing a path.

Any advice would be appreciated. Feel free to ask any questions that would help you answer me.

I’d advise picking a different topic to discuss in the new essay, colleges typically don’t like it when you write about the same thing twice

IMO you should’ve looked at the supplement topics in advance and made a different version of the commonapp for Stanford, with a different commonapp essay. But it’s too late for that, so try to pick a completely different topic for the supplement.

I would change your topic for your supplement. If you talk about the same thing for two essays, you’re wasting an entire 250/500 words that you could be using to talk about something else.
