Chintzygirl submitted the Common App first to several schools with a plan to finish supplements in her copious free time. ;) Two of the schools wanted the supplement first, before they would accept the Common App. I imagine this cuts down on the number of kids who just hit send on the CA but never get around to the supplements, but it also causes a loss of those same students' fees. Anyone else encounter this? What do you think is driving it?

well i sent the supplements first no the ca. the ca is harder i think bc it all about the personal statement which can always be made better. but the supplements are straightforward and i decide which hpysm and other top schools to apply to based on how similar their essay req's were. it save time and money if i realize that i dont want to apply bc i am too lazy to write a supplement for a college. also, i sent the supplements first bc even i dont decide to apply in the end, i wont have lost any money !!!!

^^But no matter how hard the CA is, you only have to do it once.

I think you are right chintzy, it is probably a way to weed out half-hearted applicants.

My D applied to Connecticut College a couple of years ago and didn't notice the early supplement deadline. She submitted hers several days late but was admitted anyway.
