The Questions:

Question #1: Undergraduates at Emory and Oxford Colleges are offered countless opportunities to engage with the student body, the faculty, and your academic program of choicefrom hands-on research to student organizations to volunteering. What are some of the programs and/or activities you would plan to get involved with on either campus, and what unique qualities will you bring to them?

Question #2: Imagine you are a professor, charged with teaching a new course. Emory University offers over 1,000 courses in a wide range of academics subjects. You are free to choose whatever academic subject you want. What class would you create? What would you hope students would leave your class having learned? (Don't forget to include your class title!)

What do you guys think? Better or worse than last year's questions?

It seems as though Emory’s admissions questions are designed to ferret out those that have truly done their research about the school (consistent with the fact that demonstrated interest is an important factor in admissions) and those for whom it’s just another top school.

Does anyone know how those questions compare with JHU’s when Latting was the director of admissions? The new ones seem much more Emory focused than the supplements when I applied.

I see what they are doing. Looks like their trying to do what you say (get them to research the school) and also screen for the students’ interests in both the EC opps. and the intellectual opportunities. The second one is a very clever way of asking about and having a student present their intellectual/academic interests while also essentially requiring that people scan the course atlas some.

I can’t find the page where the topics are. Would you mind posting a link?

They emailed it to me haha
Are you on their email list?

Oh, thanks! Yeah, I got the email Thanks for making this post! Emory is a very pretty school. I’m hoping I get in there.

What is the maximum word count for the essays?
