Is sending two extra recommendation letters too much? One is from a coach and another is from a non-teacher. I don't want to be seen as not following directions. Does Harvard supply a limit?

Thanks for the help.

No limit. Two is fine. Optimally they should say different things about you.

Wow, Yale specifically said limit of one extra rec.

My son sent in two supplemental recs. They were fairly similar in that they both talked about computer programming work he'd done. One was from a chemistry professor he'd done some unpaid work for, the other was from his boss at a firm where he'd done freelance programming. Since he hadn't done a computer programming course at his high school since he was a freshman, they were a way to show how far he'd gone beyond what you learn in AP Comp Sci. and also that he was able to play (or work) with others - which was less obvious from his school experiences. The main thing is that supplementary materials should add to the information in your application, not just repeat it.
