Supplement says essays are too long even though they're not!

Hi,

For some reason the Stanford supplement is saying that I'm over the limit for the short essays even though it says "3 characters remaining".

Anyone else having this problem? Must I cut down to make it fit? AHH this is so annoying because I spent ages working on the character limit.

Yeah I had that problem too. First with 0 characters remaining, then with 4, then with 8. I cut it down to 32 and it accepted, but I really would like my original ending back.

There may be a problem with the spacing between paragraphs. I put in a whole line between my paragraphs, and I tried copying and pasting from Word and it wouldn’t work because the spacing was all weird.

Hmmm… It seems ok when I have 8 characters remaining. I hate cutting down! Thanks guys.

Yeah, this is what happened to me too, and I had to cut stuff I wish I hadn’t had to. :-/ Good luck!

i’m having the same trouble with spacing, but i can’t work mine out that easily…
my essay has a poem in it (albeit a short one) and it’s spaced pretty long vertically. i have 18 characters left and the common app site says it’s okay, but when i clicked on the print preview, it cut my essay off.

the essay kind of dies without the poem in it…do you think that i should take out the poem and make the essay fit, or leave it?

What matters is the print preview, since Stanford prints them out to read. So if it cuts off, you need to do SOMETHING to get it all to fit.

craapola. thank you thank you thank you though.
