Supplement word limit??

Okay guys, I know people have asked this question before, but I had a look at those threads and it seems to divide even between the "up to 250 words" and "at least 250 words"

So can anyone please help me out? What is the word limit thing supposed to be ?

Thanks heaps guys !

The limit is the maximum amount of words you can use. If I remember correctly it cuts you off if you have too many characters

The supplement is pretty clear about the number of characters allowed.

Up to 250 words…there was confusion because the Stanford website used to say “at least 250 words” but they recently changed it.

Up to 250 words.

However, the word limit seems to be more of a guideline than a rule. When I applied last year, I went over it by a bit, and admissions didn’t seem to mind.

Just don’t be obnoxious and write a novel, and you should be fine

It’s actually a minimum of 250 words! I e-mailed my regional admission officer and she said to follow the Stanford Supplement instructions, not the common app ones.

^
How did you find your regional admission officer’s contact information? I can’t find a directory on Stanford’s website.

Hey guys,
I emailed Stanford University admissions directly and got this reply:
“Please do not worry about the word count, just make your answer fit the space allowed.” Hope this helps.

Just search “regional admission officer” in the Stanford website and you should find a page with all the officers names and contact info :)
