Hi, I'm applying for Notre Dame next year (junior right now), and I was just wondering if the supplement essays that are on their site right now (http://admissions.nd.edu/admission-and-application/supplement/) change every year. Does anyone know? The essay topics look pretty generic to me so I think they don't change every year, but I just want to make sure.

From when I was a junior I was looking ahead to the supplemental essays like you, and they remained the same for when I was applying. So I would expect that they will not change for next year, but you never know.

They do change random years. Our daughter’s questions from this year were different from our son’s who applied 3 years prior.

They do change. There is usually a “Why Notre Dame?” question. Three years ago, the “Take a Risk” one appeared, wasn’t there the next year, but a version of it reappeared this year. The other three were pretty substantially different year to year.

I would recommend clicking on this page (<a href=“People | Undergraduate Admissions | University of Notre Dame”>http://admissions.nd.edu/admissions-staff/), finding your local admissions councilor, and sending them a well written email. They may answer your question, they may not; but you’ll get brownie points regardless.
