Hi, I'm transferring into UT this Fall and was wondering what supplemental housing is like? And a good explanation of what exactly it is? I don't have a firm grasp of what I'd be facing if I took it. Is it better than off campus dorms?

Supplemental housing is when DHFS converts a room that is usually used as a study room into a residence hall room. Usually more than 2 students live there, and from what I understand, once those students bond with each other, they don’t want to leave! You have everything that you would have in a regular room, and sometimes there’s more space. You can go here for more information: [Division of Housing and Food Service - Supplemental](<a href=“UHD Homepage | University Housing and Dining”>UHD Homepage | University Housing and Dining)

I lived on a floor in Jester East that had a couple supplemental housing rooms. As previously mentioned, they’re study lounges with added beds and some other stuff. They’re usually huge, even for four people. They also have a full table and couches, which are nice bonuses. Really, the only downside is that they don’t have sinks (but you can use the sinks in the bathroom), and that for some reason, they were usually colder than the other rooms on the floor.

sorry for creeping on this conversation, but I also go stuck with supplemental housing at ut, and I don’t really know how to put this nicely… but do a lot of people with supplemental housing end up with weird roommates? Also, I’m a super light sleeper I’m guessing that would be a problem with 3 roommates?
